Borkum is a very small island in the North Sea, a wonderful place. It's not allowed to drive around by car so everyone goes by bicycle... I also love the cool, windy and rainy weather there! :D

And of course the seascape is beautiful too, I took around 500 pictures... :giggle:

... thank you so much for your kind comment, you make me wanna become the best photographer in the whole wide world!!! :D

You're not used to drive by bicycle?

I guess I was every evening at the beach to take pictures, but I think it was worth it! ;-)

Don't know what to say anymore, you're much too kind to me! :blushes:

I can't drive a bicycle... Haven't I told you about my adventures atop a bike?
If I haven't, I'll tell you.

I learned to ride a bike when I was 15 years old in France. My family over there found it ridiculous that I did not know how to drive one (I had never found it interesting really) so they practically forced me to learn. It was a delightful experience over there... we went biking across the little town and we picked up berries and delicious fruit. It was beautiful.

Then I came back to Guatemala and my friends told me that, know that I knew how to ride a bike, we should go biking. We did so at her house. Small detail: France is quite flat, her house has a lot of hills. Anyhow... we started riding the bikes and I got over confident and decided to pedal faster and try to catch up with her. Eventually we reached a down-hill steep slope where she accelerated but started breaking slowly; finally she veered and stopped at the end of a street. I did the same thing but forgot how to brake. So there I was riding the bike, totally out of control, yelling and screaming for someone to help me... I can't tell you how scared I was. I was speeding down, with my legs spread to the sides, screaming and yelling. My friend said: "Turn! Turn!" and I turned. But too late!!! I crashed against a house that had a rose bush and my head banged against a column. I took the bike, threw it to the floor, walked ten steps, and threw myself to the grass and cried. My friend rushed over to me, laughing, and asked how I was doing. Later, she healed me... I had 17 cuts thanks to rather painful thorns. And I dislocated my left wrist. Nothing really lasting... I have no scars from that event but my wrist still cracks when I turn it around. My friends of school still laugh at the incident... I think it was funny (as long as you weren't me).

Ever since I keep a prudent distance away from a bike....

Oh dear, what a story… :giggle:

I'll tell you a story too:

Once upon a time there was a little boy who had a friend. They did stupid things (boys-stuff) every day and once they decided to climb a small hill and rush downhill by bicycle…

After few seconds and with very high speed he lost control of his bicycle and crashed into a barbed wire fence. He laid on the street, unconscious and bloody and his friend called his mother who took the poor boy and brought him to the doctor. Half an hour later he woke up and the doctor had to sew his head.

And till now he has scars on his back head and he's very proud of it! :giggle:

Did he learn something from this accident? No, the same thing happened to him some years later again… :D

:slamhead: barbed wire, thorns, walls...
:faint:
Confess, was that you?!
:handshake:
It must have hurt a ton... and why, why, why did you (I mean he :giggle:) repeat it?!

Yes, it did hurt a lot! But the boy was a great attraction when he went back to school!

Next accident: This crazy boy wanted to go to school very quickly (his formerly girlfriend was waiting there) and as he rushed downhill (like always with high speed) there was a stone in the middle of the street...

Thank God a friend of him was there too, called his father and he brought him to the hospital where they had to sew the boys head again... :D
